The course began by tasking each student with developing and establishing a fictional persona that a website was to be designed for. The final project of the Principles of Web Authoring course was to create a working version of the website that would align with the persona and numerous mock-ups, or skeletons created throughout the process. I was not fully confident that my skills and capabilities were adequate for such an immense task at the time, and it is one of the few times during this academic journey that the word “nervous” felt like it was applicable.

 

       After completing the preliminary steps and reviewing potential platforms for website creation, the nerves subsided as a plan was coming into place and all of the prior lessons started to cohere. By keeping the persona in mind and trying to approach the process from their perspective, the skeleton and storyboard quickly took form. After that point, it was trial and error and familiarizing myself with the intricacies of the specific website creation platform that suited the assignment best. The process of completing this Web Authoring project was as uncomfortable as I have been, but by the end it was also one of the most rewarding and satisfying to complete.
