This assignment tasked students with selecting seven different articles, with the goal of identifying and analyzing the overlapping themes, ideas, and arguments. As a lifelong athlete and fan of numerous sports, the topic of social media in sports was a natural choice. In this Literature Review, I examine the positive and negative effects that social media has on the professional sports landscape. My familiarity with several professional sports organizations enabled me to take a deep-dive into the process of conducting a Literature Review which was greatly beneficial. 

 

       Through conducting this review, the differences became apparent between the periods where social media was not present and today. The project highlights the impact of social media on professional sports, and how it has created an entirely new climate for modern-day athletes and corporations seeking advertising opportunities. This project taught me how critical and impactful social media can be in today's world.
